11. Stonecutter

The inspiration for this sculpture was the old logo or, more correctly, the post stamp of Pargas’ biggest company in 1920s,  Pargas Kalkberg LLC, nowadays Nordkalk.

Stonecutter is made by ordinary Pargas citizen John Laurén. It took John Lauren 25 years to realize his vision into sculpture. It is believed that idea came to him during evening drawing classes in 1920s. In 1930s he made the model in clay. His family also owns the miniature model of sculpture made in wood.

The statue was also going under the name Rock Blaster
